Vigorous exercise can be exhilarating, to be sure, but the key to a long, healthy life is simply taking regular walks. That’s the conclusion of a pair of studies published recently in the British Journal of Sports Medicine and the American Journal of Preventative Medicine. In both studies, researchers found that those who walked consistently had a 20 percent reduction in all-cause mortality. Those in the British study were 24 percent less likely to die from heart disease.
